Meet the Bupa Dental Care Executive Team
Our forward-looking leadership team consists of several experienced and dedicated professionals, all of whom bring insight and ambition to Bupa Dental Care from a varied array of backgrounds.
Working side by side with employees up and down the country, their knowledge and commitment is ensuring goals are met and our patients and communities remain in safe hands. As we look towards the future of Bupa Dental Care with renewed ambition and focus, our executive team continues to uphold our values for the patients, people and communities we serve.
Mark Allan – General Manager
Mark Allan is the General Manager of Bupa Dental Care. He was previously General Manager for Business and Specialist Products in Bupa’s UK Insurance business with responsibility for the commercial leadership of the Business and Specialist Products, SME and Corporate channels for Private Medical and Dental Insurance.
Mark joined Bupa in late 2017 having previously been Managing Director for RSA Insurance’s Personal Insurance business as part of a 23-year career there performing a range of roles including Graduate trainee, Regional Director in their Estate Agency chain and Claims Operations Director.
Mark loves Peterborough United FC, and enjoys golf, music and eating out.
Claire Pearson – Operations Director
Claire Pearson is the Operations Director for Bupa Dental Care.
She was previously Regional Operations Director for Bupa Dental Care with responsibility for practices in the North of England and Scotland. Claire joined Bupa in late 2021 after a 10-year career with Vision Express Opticians performing a range of operational roles including Divisional Director, Head of Central Retail Operations, and Regional Manager. Prior to this, Claire worked at Ultralase, Laser Eye Surgery for 7 years.
Claire enjoys travel and loves her cats.
Ian Waller – Provisions Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Ian Waller is the CIO for Bupa Provisions (Care, Clinics, Cromwell, Dental)
Ian was the IT Director for Bupa Dental Care, joining late 2019. Ian’s career to-date has been in Technology, working across Retail, Education, Consulting and now Healthcare. Customer-centricity has been paramount in his work across all industries. He has worked for companies including House of Fraser, Marks & Spencer, ASDA, and Waitrose, and has performed many different roles over the years from Service Desk to Developer, Business Analyst, Project Manager and now over 10 years in executive leadership.
Ian loves family holidays, watching films and exercising.
Lou Harvey - Commercial Director
Lou’s early career was in retail and she travelled the world on buying trips before moving into healthcare, joining Bupa in 2011. She joined as a Product Manager for Bupa dental insurance, and went on to lead the Bupa UK Insurance team before joining Bupa Dental Care. She is committed to making healthcare more inclusive and has delivered a number of leading mental health and women’s health propositions for Bupa customers and employees.
Lou lives near the Peak District with her family and loves to remind everyone she’s Welsh.
Mylo Scurr - Strategy and Transformation Director
Mylo leads strategy development and a cross-functional transformation programme for Bupa Dental Care. He was previously Strategy Director for the Bupa Group, advising the executive team and board on corporate strategy and strategic decisions. Mylo joined Bupa in 2019 having previously been a strategy consultant at PwC Strategy&, advising organisations in the health and technology sectors on strategy, and mergers and acquisitions in the UK and United States.
He is passionate about the health and dental care sectors, and in particular about mental health awareness and advocacy. He loves learning Spanish, playing squash and being in the countryside.
Neil Sikka - Director of Dentistry
Neil works as a dentist at Bupa Dental Moorgate and as Chief Dental Officer within Bupa UK Insurance. He uses his 30 years of private practice and innovative entrepreneurial experience to support product development, corporate relations and the patient journey at centres. In 2024 Neil was appointed Director of Dentistry for 360 Bupa Dental Clinics around the UK. He leads the Clinical Advisory Team, and supports commercial and strategic decisions with a clinical voice. Neil sits with the Executive Team.
Neil is a sponsor of several community projects including a dental unit on The Lifeline Express, India’s first hospital train, Gwalior Children’s Hospital charity and Dentaid / Kampong Cham Cambodia. He founded InSkills, a programme to create dental nurse apprenticeships for the young people of Tower Hamlets. He is currently developing an oral health programme for children within NGO schools around Delhi. He is also the Chair of the Bupa Dental Foundation Committee and leads the Bupa relationship with Dentaid, providing treatment to the homeless and vulnerable around the UK.
Ruth Chesmore - Director of Transformation and NHS
Ruth has 10+ years’ experience in dentistry including Operations, M&A, Portfolio Management and Transformation. At present, Ruth is accountable for the development and execution of Bupa Dental Care's NHS and Commissioning strategy. Prior to dentistry, Ruth worked in various management and leadership roles within the wider Bupa insurance business.
Ruth is also Director of Operational Affairs for the Association of Dental Group, where she focuses on areas including contract reform and commissioning as well as contributing to the overall activities of the ADG.
