Men’s Health Week is held on 10 - 16 June and is a dedicated week that shines the spotlight on the unique health concerns that men experience. It’s a reminder of the importance of proactively addressing and managing health issues by encouraging men to take charge of their well-being, make informed decisions about their lifestyle choices, and seek appropriate medical support when needed.
Why is it important to champion men’s health in the workplace?
Health and wellbeing are important to everybody, but we know that men tend to be in worse health than women. In the UK, men die, on average, around three and a half years younger.1
There are lots of different reasons for this, including that men seem to be less likely to:
- adopt healthy behaviours
- visit a doctor when they aren’t feeling well
- talk about the symptoms of their illness to a doctor when they do see one
They are also more likely to:
- have dangerous jobs
- engage in risk-taking
But there are some things you can do to help your male team members and employees to be as healthy as they can, both mentally and physically. We’ve put together some expert-approved tools and resources for you to share within your business that can help to create better conversations with the men in your business and empower to open-up the conversation on men’s health in the workplace.
