Cover options

Fixed-term cover Hide

Select the number of years - between 5 and 52 – you’d like the cover to last.

Mortgage outlay cover Hide

Covers the period outstanding on your repayment mortgage.

Term to retirement cover Hide

Let us know which age you plan to retire. Choose from 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70.

Premium options

Guaranteed premiums Hide

Your premium stays the same for the term of your membership. Your premium may have to increase if there’s a change in the law or taxation rules.

Reviewable premiums Hide

We may increase or decrease your premium on the 5th anniversary of the start of your scheme and at the end of every following five-year period.

Deferred periods Hide

How long would you be able to meet your normal financial commitments before a payment under the Bupa income protection scheme is made – one, three, six or twelve months?

Optional features

Index-linked benefit Hide

Protects the value of your benefit and allows it to increase in line with the Retail Price Index.

Limited benefit period Hide

Choose to receive benefits for a maximum of two years – as a single continuous period or a series of shorter periods totalling 24 months.

Career break option Hide

Allows you to adjust your premiums and replace your income protection with houseperson’s benefit.

Child carer benefit Hide

Receive four monthly benefit payments or, if lower, £25,000 if your child suffers one of the specified illnesses. See membership guide for more information.

Proportionate benefit Hide

Bupa could pay you a proportionate benefit if you’re unable to return to the job you did prior to illness and are on a lower salary as a result.

Recurrent benefit Hide

Receive benefit payments from Bupa if you return to work and the same illness / incapacity reoccurs within 12 months.

Rehabilitation benefits Hide

Payment if you return to work on a part-time basis and are not fully recovered.

What's not covered?Show all

We will not pay benefit when: Hide
  • incapacity is a result of riot, civil commotion, insurrection or war
  • a claim is excluded by a special condition noted on your registration certificate
