Million pound plus redevelopment of local care home30 May 2008Bupa’s Parklands Court Nursing Home in Bloxwich has undergone a major redevelopment programme to meet the area’s growing care needs. The one-and-a-quarter million pound investment has seen the construction of 15 new en-suite rooms each equipped with flat screen televisions, as well as extra communal and activities areas for the residents. The extensions have been also a direct response to an increasing local demand for more dementia care facilities. So, as part of the building project, there is now a specialised 12-bed challenging behaviour unit. And the work at Parklands Court does not stop there. From June, a further £470,000 will be spent on a top-to-toe refurbishment programme of the rest of the nursing home. The development is part of a multi-million pound investment programme in the UK care homes sector by Bupa to help improve the standard of care for older people. Amanda Dudd, care home manager at Parklands Court Nursing Home, said: “This development is a boost to dementia care in the area and will go some way to addressing the increasing need. We are really proud of the new extensions and look forward to welcoming new residents into our home.” Parklands Court Nursing Home is a modern, purpose-built home designed specifically to meet the needs of older residents. There are five separate houses, two registered for nursing care, one for intermediate care and two for dementia care. The home also provides care for older people with physical disabilities and those requiring palliative or terminal care. Parklands Court welcomes residents funded by the local authority.
