New care home for the elderly in Bromsgrove
29 March 2006
Elderly people in Bromsgrove can be cared for closer to home now that a new 45-bed care home is to be built in the area.
Bupa Care Homes has acquired a one-acre site in Worcester Road in the town, for the development of the home which will be one of the first new homes for the elderly in the area for several years.
The site has been granted planning permission by the Bromsgrove District Council. Building will begin in April and the care home is expected to open in Spring 2007.
DTZ acted for Bupa in partnership with Danescroft Development Limited.
Tony Cole, commercial development manager for Bupa, said: “There has been a desperate need for more nursing home places in Worcestershire for some time and this will help local residents stay in the county for their care instead of moving outside of the area. This new care home is a part of our strategy to deliver a range of care options to fit the varied needs of our elderly residents, as well as helping to reduce delayed transfers from the local hospital.
