Cambridge care home reveals £700,000 new look with a month of celebrations

Over the month of July, Chesterton care home, The Cambridge Nursing Centre, will open its doors to the local community to reveal the results of its £700,000 refurbishment, thanks to Bupa.
Staff at The Cambridge, which offers nursing care and specialist nursing for older people with dementia, are so proud of the home’s new look, they have organised a series of open days throughout July, so that visitors can see first-hand the home’s top-to-toe refurbishment.
Two mock ‘shops’ are also planned for the dementia units at the home, which will have items such as old-fashioned food tins, cameras or pipes, to help stimulate memories and generate discussion among residents.
As part of the month-long celebrations, The Cambridge is also hosting a summer fête on Saturday 12 July with a cake-sale, cream teas and traditional activities such as children’s games, face-painting and a tombola. All visitors are welcome.
The Cambridge’s refurbishment is part of Bupa’s commitment to improve standards in the care home sector and the changes are appreciated by both residents and staff. Lynda Sampford, home manager, commented: “We’re thrilled with the renovations and we hope the local community will come and see our new look and enjoy the treats of the summer fête!”
