Local care home celebrates £400,000 makeover with 'Best of Bolton' Fair
20 November 2008
This Friday, Bolton care home, Mill View residential and nursing home, will reveal its £400,000 makeover with a ‘best of Bolton’ fair. The Mayor of Bolton, Councillor Connell, will unveil the home’s new look, which has been funded by the health and care company, Bupa, before being shown around the home
Residents, relatives, staff and people from the local community are all invited to help celebrate the occasion. They can enjoy local delicacies, traditional Lancashire songs, a slide show featuring the history of the town, as well as activities including bingo, craft stalls and a raffle where autographed items donated by local celebrity, Peter Kay, will be up for grabs.
The fair has been organised to celebrate the complete renovation of the 180-bed care home, providing an improved environment for both residents and staff. The refurbishments are part of Bupa’s multi-million pound investment in the UK care homes sector, to help improve the standard of care for older people.
Bill Hardman, clinical services manager at Bupa’s Mill View, said: "The changes are to a very high standard with the bedroom and living areas having been fully redecorated. The living areas are equipped with new flat screen plasma televisions and there is improved lighting and soft furnishings throughout. The impact on residents and their families has been instant. There’s definitely been a ‘wow factor’ from their reactions – the home feels much brighter and is even more welcoming. We hope as many visitors as possible will join us, take the opportunity to admire the refurbishments and sample some good old-fashioned Lancashire hospitality."
