Million pound plus redevelopment of Benfleet care home
20 November 2008
Bupa’s Godden Lodge Residential and Nursing Home in Benfleet has undergone a major redevelopment programme, in a direct response to the increasing local demands for more dementia and palliative care.
The one million pound investment has seen the construction of a new 10 bed specialist dementia unit and a new four bed nursing palliative care unit, while additional communal areas and facilities have also been created.
The project is part of a multi-million pound investment programme in the UK care homes sector by Bupa to help improve the standard of care for older people.
Sunita Warner, the care home manager at Bupa’s Godden Lodge, said: “This development is a real boost to dementia care in our area and will go some way to addressing the increasing need. The new extensions provide a wonderful caring environment to look after people with dementia and we’re really proud of them.”
Godden Lodge Residential and Nursing Home is a modern, 133-bed purpose-built home designed specifically to meet the needs of older residents. There are four separate houses, two offer specialist dementia care, one provides nursing care, and one provides both nursing and residential care.
Godden Lodge has been awarded a ‘good’ rating by the care homes’ regulator, the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
Godden Lodge is located at 57 Hart Road, Thundersley, Benfleet, Essex SS7 3GL.
