Bupa invests over £1 million on Hertfordshire care home
Facilities for older people in Hertfordshire have been given a boost thanks to an investment of £1.2 million by Bupa in local nursing home, St Christopher’s in Hatfield.
On Tuesday 24 June, the Mayor of Welwyn & Hatfield will officially unveil the newly extended and refurbished care home. Mr Long will be greeted by Oliver Thomas, regional director, Bupa Care Homes, and invited to mark the extension through a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by drinks and refreshments.
The investment by Bupa means an increase in capacity and services at St Christopher’s, which now has an extra 13 en-suite bedrooms. In addition, there are seven new bathrooms, two garden courtyards and an activity room for residents. The living areas are also equipped with new flat screen plasma televisions. The refurbishment and extension are part of Bupa’s multi-million pound investment in the UK care homes sector, to help improve the standard of care for older people.
The development of St Christopher’s has been welcomed by residents, their families and staff. Mandy Jackson, home manager, said: “We’re really pleased with the results of the refurbishment and extension, particularly our new gardens and the activity room as they provide alternative spaces where our residents can socialise but also enjoy some peace and privacy. We’re also planning to develop the gardens into sensory spaces which will even include an aviary!”
