Bupa launches the first ever TV advertisement about dementia care11 November 2009 From Tuesday 11 November, viewers will be seeing the first ever TV advertisement about providing care for people with dementia. The advertisement is part of Bupa's commitment to bringing the issue of dementia care "out of the shadows" and acknowledging it as a growing issue for families and the nation's healthcare providers. It will also support one of the key themes of the Government's proposed National Dementia Strategy: to improve awareness and understanding of the disease. The advertisement, which forms part of the ongoing Bupa brand TV campaign activity, features Ernie visiting his sister June who has dementia in a Bupa care home and shows the personalised care being delivered by our specially-trained staff. Bupa currently cares for more than 5,000 people in the UK with dementia plus a similar number of residents who have significant cognitive impairment. Some 70 percent of Bupa care home residents are state-funded.
