Bupa International makes medical cover more accessible for expats in Spain
11 July 2005
Bupa International is offering expatriates living in Spain easier access to medical cover designed to suit their lifestyle. Health Plan Complete, which enables expatriates to insure themselves for medical treatment in Spain and one other European country of their choice, is now available to new and existing customers on average ten percent cheaper than it was before.
Around one million properties in Spain are owned by non-Spanish nationals, and 50 percent of these are owned by Britons. Health Plan Complete has been designed to meet the needs of these expatriates, who want to feel protected wherever they spend their time. It has been developed by Bupa International, the world's largest expatriate health insurer, and Spanish company Sanitas, which is part of the Bupa group and provides medical insurance cover mainly in Spain.
Paula Covey, head of marketing at Bupa International, said: "We work hard to understand the needs of our members and are always looking to develop new ways of delivering even better value health cover. By combining our knowledge of specific Spanish risks with our position as a global insurer we have been able to reduce the price of Health Plan Complete by ten percent, giving more expatriates living in Spain the opportunity to have peace of mind about their healthcare."
Health Plan Complete customers receive a ‘swipe card’ containing their details which allows them to access treatment in any of Sanitas’ approved network of 20,000 doctors and 520 hospitals and clinics across Spain. Customers also receive access to Healthline, a multi-lingual telephone medical advice service, which is now available to all Bupa International’s members living in over 180 countries around the world as a standard benefit of their cover.
