Employee benefits extended to family members

In an innovative move, Bupa has launched two new private medical insurance (PMI) schemes to extend cover to employees and their families, not covered by their employers’ private medical insurance scheme.

Bupa EmployeeChoice and Bupa EmployeeChoice Essential have been designed to give employees of participating companies, and their families, access to affordable private medical insurance.*

The low cost voluntary PMI schemes will be offered from as little as £16.50** per month to all staff and their families not currently covered by their company paid Bupa PMI scheme.

Both schemes offer a wide range of services and benefits and prompt access to 180 hospitals in the Bupa Partnership Network. The Bupa EmployeeChoice schemes also provide full cover for eligible heart and cancer treatment, a service that is not usually offered on similar ‘low cost’ PMI schemes.

Additional benefits of both schemes include:

• cover for eligible diagnostic tests, in-patient and day case treatment and physiotherapy


• an initial no claims discount of 20 percent when you join plus further discounts on subsequent years' premiums if you don't make a claim*


• peace of mind that you will have access to consultants and private medical treatment when needed, in a Bupa Partnership Network Hospital


• the ability to reduce premiums further still by selecting an excess of £250

Corinna Cope, Bupa’s Affinity Account Manager says, “We have essentially created these new low cost schemes to extend our offering to individuals and their families who don’t have access to private medical insurance through their employer.
