Decade of excellence at Bupa International wins award for ward
6 July 2005
A Bupa International employee has been recognised for a decade of outstanding service at the Bupa’s Annual Excellence Awards.
David Ward, a customer services team leader, picked up the gong at the ceremony at the Royal Opera House in London.
Keith Biddlestone, managing director of Bupa International, says: “ David started in a junior role just over ten years ago. Since then he has scaled the career ladder and has become a big asset to the company. He uses his knowledge, plus his total customer focus and determination, to seek out the very best solutions and he thoroughly deserves this award.”
This year a record number of people have been recognised within Bupa for the excellence of their work from significant one-off achievements to sustained commitment, loyalty, enthusiasm and care.
As part of the One Life Awards 1400 employees were initially nominated at a local level for excelling within their role. This was then whittled down to 47 and from this number 10 people were finally chosen to receive an Annual Excellence Award.
Recognition scheme manager Sally Gardiner, who organises the annual event, says: “All these people have made a significant personal contribution to realising Bupa’s vision of ‘taking care of the lives in our hands’.
“They epitomise the rich diversity of talent and expertise of Bupa employees and highlight how our staff are prepared to readily go beyond the call of duty and exceed all expectations.”
Also announced at the awards luncheon were the winners of Bupa’s Idea of the Year Awards. Eight individuals were chosen from dozens of employees recognised for inspiration and innovation in business.
Bupa employees from all over the world, including people from the UK, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Spain, Thailand and Australia attended the One Life Awards event.
