Help celebrate Bupa's elegant addittion to Alderley Edge

3 December 2007

Local people are invited to join staff and residents at Bupa's Brookview Nursing and Residential Centre for a champagne reception on Saturday 8 December to mark the completion of the centre's £500,000 refurbishment. The centre will be officially re-opened by David Briggs, former High Sheriff of Cheshire.

Thanks to a £500,000 investment by Bupa, each bedroom on the nursing floors at Brookview now has a flat-screen television with freeview channels, together with a telephone and internet access, so residents can keep up with their favourite programmes and keep in touch with friends and family in the comfort and privacy of their own rooms. Each of the three floors also has a communal lounge boasting a 42 inch plasma television, while the whole centre has been tastefully redecorated and refurnished throughout.

A sensory courtyard garden has also been developed for residents, which features a new seating area and raised flowerbeds, providing easier access for wheelchair users.

Home manager Maureen Southern said: "Brookview is a beautiful building set in landscaped gardens and, thanks to the refurbishment, it's looking more elegant and is better equipped to meet our residents' needs than ever. We're very proud of the improvements and the champagne reception is the perfect opportunity for local people - including residents' family and friends - to see the finished results for themselves."

The celebrations will continue in the countdown to the festive season as staff will be organising a 12-days of Christmas themed activity schedule for residents, including performances from bell ringers and carol singers. The centre will also hold an invitation-only open afternoon on Friday 7 December for local healthcare professionals.

Brookview is home to 55 residents and was purpose built to accommodate the needs of older people requiring nursing, residential dementia and respite care. The centre is registered to provide residential care for up to 12 people with dementia.
