New CEO for Bupa Cromwell Hospital

Bupa Cromwell Hospital, one of London's leading private hospitals, has appointed Michele Lahey as chief executive officer (CEO).
Michele has over 20 years' experience in strategic hospital management. Prior to joining Bupa Cromwell, Michele was executive vice president of Capital Health in Canada with responsibility for the health system in the Edmonton region of Alberta, covering 13 hospitals, six primary care networks and 30,000 employees. She also led waiting time strategy groups in orthopaedics, cardiac surgery, diagnostic imaging, prostate cancer care and cataracts. Michele has a Bachelors degree in Nursing and a Masters degree in Public Administration. She takes over from Hume Martin, who stepped down as chief executive of Bupa Cromwell in July.
Michele's appointment comes six months after the 128-bed hospital, renowned for being the first in the UK to invest in cutting edge medical equipment and cancer services, was acquired by Bupa. The leading health and care company plans to invest £30 million in the hospital over the next two years to create a centre of excellence for private patients.
Talking about her new role, Michele Lahey said: "I am delighted to be joining the team at the Bupa Cromwell as we embark on an exciting period of growth and development for the hospital. We already have a strong reputation both in the UK and overseas and my aim is to consolidate this position and to further establish Bupa Cromwell as the private hospital of choice for UK patients and international referrals."
Managing director of Bupa UK and North America Insurance, Fergus Kee added: "Michele brings a wealth of experience to the hospital and a strong track record in hospital management. I'm very confident in her ability to lead the hospital into the next phase of its development, to create a centre of excellence for private patients in London."
